Mountain Brook's Ben McCool (24) hit the game-winning shot on Friday night. He is shown in a game against Spain Park earlier in the season.
The Spartans executed the inbounds play perfectly, and Ben McCool scored at the buzzer to lift Mountain Brook to a 61-59 win over Ramsay on Friday night.
The game-winner was just the icing on the cake, in a game of many milestones for Mountain Brook (19-5).
The victory was the 30th consecutive victory inside Spartan Arena. The win was the 200th for head coach Bucky McMillan. And in the first half, freshman star Trendon Watford eclipsed 1,000 points in his young career.
Watford led the team with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also pulled down five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Jack Kline scored 16 points on identical shooting numbers, while also picking up a pair of steals. McCool was the most efficient for the Spartans, shooting 7-of-10 to score 18 points.
Drew Smith did not score in the game, but notched five assists.
Mountain Brook will hit the floor again on Saturday, as they host the Border Wars Showcase.
