It’s only fitting that Mayor Terry Oden’s last ribbon cutting for the community of Mountain Brook is with Western Market, who found their most recent home in the Lane Parke shopping center.
The grocery store held their public grand opening on the morning of Oct. 13, and members of the city government, the chamber and the community surrounded the store. “It’s one of the best stocked, best laid out, most aesthetically pleasing food stores,” said Mayor Oden of the market. The new location boasts an additional 8,000 square feet compared to their former store, and department heads were able to help design their section of the market to meet their own needs.
Even with a tight schedule and much customization, the store was opened completely on time and with plenty of new features. Guests are able to purchase their produce with their lunch, grab an O’Henry’s cup of coffee and a bouquet of fresh flowers all in one trip. Next to the on-site coffee shop, shoppers can find a selection of The Heavenly Donut Company’s special donuts to munch on every day except Monday.
On the other side of the store, the walls give way to a “wine cave,” with shelves stocked from floor to ceiling with bottles. For the adventurous shoppers who would like to branch out to different wines, or for those who would like something to sip on while walking around, the section has a climate- and portion-controlled wine dispenser complete with wine glasses, ready to use. Beer lovers can also find their favorite drinks stored in refrigerators across from the wine.
Finally, the market opens upwards to a second-floor café style seating area for shoppers who want to kick up their feet and relax, enjoy their food, and still stay connected via Wifi.
You can visit the new Western Market location at 1000 Jamison Lane in the Lane Parke shopping center during their normals hours of 6 a.m. to midnight.
