As the sun went down on Oct. 8, the Birmingham Zoo reopened its gates to let in a new and spookier crowd of patrons. Children of all ages dressed as princesses, superheroes, animals, witches and other characters and roamed the decorated pathways of the zoo as they trick-or-treated and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
The Scarousel, Spider Slide, Ghost Rollers and Eerie Express Train were some of the rides offered to kids. The zoo debuted all-inclusive tickets this year to allow for unlimited rides. Also new this year were several enormous animatronic bugs in the Bug-A-BOO corner in the play area next to the Safari Cafe.
In addition to rides, guests were able to satisfy their sweet tooth by trick-or-treating throughout the zoo while a Monster Mash dance party took place under the Safari Peak pavilion. Children were also be able to meet some of their favorite princesses, Transformers and Star Wars characters.
Boo at the Zoo will continue again on Oct. 14-16 and Oct. 21-31 from 5 to 9 p.m. Ticketing and additional information is available on the events page of the Birmingham Zoo website.
