Images of America
Catherine Pittman Smith, author of the “Images of America: Mountain Brook” is hosting the 2nd annual Mountain Brook History Camp in both Crestline & Mountain Brook Villages. The camp’s objective, according to its invitation, is to help Mountain Brook children learn about their local history.
Activities will include a brief history featuring highlights and overviews of the city’s founding, development and growth, its iconic leaders, and historic buildings in Crestline and Mountain Brook Villages.
Other activities include:
- scavenger hunt sleuth around Crestline & Mountain Brook Villages
- arts & crafts, making passports documenting their fun
- each child receives a signed copy of the “Mountain Brook” book
- children receive candy bags & shaved ice from SUGAR in Crestline and a limeade from Gilchrist’s in Mountain Brook Village.
Camp sessions are as follows:
- Session I, Tuesday, July 12 - Mountain Brook City Hall
- Session II, Wednesday, July 13 - Mountain Brook City Hall
- Session III, Thursday, July 14 – Grand Bohemian Hotel
- Session IV, Friday, July 15 - Grand Bohemian Hotel
- Registration is open to children ages 6-12.
- Each session is limited to 12 children and is a stand-alone. Camp fees are $60 per child. $100 per child if registered for two different sessions.
