Mountain Brook High School made its appearance at the Jefferson-Shelby Media Days on Monday, July 25.
Head football coach Chris Yeager was joined by seniors Price Delk and Will Wetzler, a pair of leaders Yeager will lean on throughout the fall.
The Spartans went 3-7 in 2015, but Yeager said he is encouraged about his team's prospects heading into the season.
"We feel real good about our experience returning," Yeager said. "We've got 40-plus seniors."
Yeager said his team had a "fantastic" spring, which culminated in a 41-12 victory over Shades Valley High School. Yeager referred to the scrimmage as "maybe the best spring jamboree" his team has ever played in.
The Spartans will try to carry that success into the regular season, especially when it comes to region play.
Competing in the highly-competitive Class 7A, Region 3, Yeager said that Mountain Brook's focus will be on controlling the only thing it can: itself.
"This team has got grit," Yeager said. "That for me is what we've got going for us, is that they're nasty and gritty."
