The Mountain Brook Spartans dropped yet another last-minute decision in high school football Friday, Oct. 10.
Oak Mountain scored a touchdown with 34 seconds left to edge the Spartans 27-24 in a game that broke a tie for second place in the region. Jacob Carroll passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third TD.
The quarterback went 18-of-26 passing for 141 yards and rushed 16 times for 61 yards. John Eagan and Hill Kirkland caught TD passes. Drew Odum caught 11 passes for 105 yards. Will Wetzler, McKinnon Cox and Hunter Lucas led the defense in tackles.
Mountain Brook drops to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in Class 7A, Region 3. The Spartans host Hewitt-Trussville on Friday.
