Mountain Brook's baseball team did not have the season it hoped for on the field, but one player was recognized for his efforts.
Sophomore catcher Clay Stearns was named honorable mention All-State by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, thanks to a solid season of work.
"Clay had a fantastic year for us both offensively and defensively as our catcher," head coach Lee Gann said. "Not only is Clay a gifted baseball player that loves to compete on the field but is a quality young man of impeccable character off the field."
Stearns hit for a .341 average and registered a .444 on-base percentage. He hit three home runs and drove in 27 runs.
Along with his efforts on the field, he brings a lot to the team off the field as well.
"Clay is a student-athlete that represents Mountain Brook High School and this community in a positive manner at all times," Gann said.
